Te Pae Christchurch recognised for environmental management

The Centre has been named as a finalist in the Toitū Brighter Future Awards 2022, which acknowledge Toitū certified businesses that are leading the way in environmental sustainability.

Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre has been named as a finalist in the Toitū Brighter Future Awards 2022, under the category of Exceptional Achievement in Environmental Management.

The nomination was made by Toitū Envirocare based on data provided to the organisation through the enviromark programme and the work of the Te Pae Christchurch team to date.

Te Pae Christchurch general manager Ross Steele said he was incredibly proud of the Centre being recognised for its commitment and leadership in sustainable operations so soon after becoming operational.

“Sustainability is a key operational pillar for us and an area that our team is very passionate about,” Steele said.

“We’ve invested significant time and resources over the past few years, through pre-opening and the past several months of operations, to not only achieve and retain Toitū enviromark gold, but to lead the way in sustainable operations, so it’s wonderful to see the team being recognised for their hard work and commitment in this area.”

The Toitū Brighter Future Awards acknowledge Toitū certified businesses that are leading the way in environmental sustainability. The criteria for the awards is centred around demonstrating impact, and the finalists are required to scientifically prove to be making a positive difference to the world around them.

Te Pae Christchurch recently received Toitū enviromark gold recertification, based on the Centre’s achievements of the previous 12 months. Gold certification is a criteria of nomination for these awards.

The winners will be announced on 16 November 2022.
