Sydney lights up with return of Vivid

Promising the 'biggest, brightest and most brilliant line-up ever,' Vivid Sydney 2022 will run for 23 days, from Friday 27 May until Saturday 18 June.

After a two-year hiatus (no) thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, Vivid will finally return tomorrow night, igniting Sydney into a vibrant spectacle of light, colour, ideas and more.

Promising the ‘biggest, brightest and most brilliant line-up ever,’ Vivid Sydney 2022 will feature more 200 events, music performances, spectacular light installations and 3D projections across Circular Quay, the CBD, The Rocks, Walsh Bay, Barangaroo, Darling Harbour, Darling Quarter, Darling Square, Taronga Zoo and Luna Park.

Minister for Enterprise, Investment and Trade and Minister for Tourism Stuart Ayres said that after a long wait, the world will be watching and welcome.

“It’s been a long wait since the lights went out on Vivid Sydney 2019 and few things could make me happier than seeing this spectacular event kick off tomorrow night,” Minister Ayres said.

“This year, the lights of Vivid Sydney will shine even more brightly, signalling to locals and visitors alike, with your support we can boost our live performance venues, bars, restaurants, cafes, retailers, attractions, hotels and businesses in the city who have done it tough over the last two years.”

This year’s program promises something for everyone, with 50 light installations and 3D projection artworks, 111 music events, and 87 Vivid ideas talks and immersive workshops.

“It’s time to get out and enjoy our Sydney again, to celebrate our beautiful and resilient city and I encourage everyone, young and old, to come and enjoy Vivid Sydney 2022.”

Vivid Sydney runs for 23 days, from Friday 27 May until Saturday 18 June and guests can enjoy the Light Walk each night from 6 – 11pm.
