Putting a positive spin on gloom laden economic news, Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa director of conferencing sales, Natalie Brumniach, argues that now is the right time for event planners to look to Fiji for an incentive or conference deal — despite the drop in the Aussie dollar.
“Overall the destination is cheaper than Australia and New Zealand and our dollar goes that much further in Fiji compared to luxury 5-star hotels and resort at home,” she said.
“In addition to the exchange rate advantage, Fiji appeals to the Australian and New Zealand market as it is so very close — just three or four hours depending on your departure city.”
Brumniach added that the main point of difference between Fiji and other tropical incentive destinations is that the cultural experiences are authentic. The fire ceremonies, kava, dancing and songs are not just a performance but part of the current daily lives of Fijians.
“At the end of the day Sofitel’s staff do not go home to their apartments — they still live in villages in the traditional way and they impart their loloma or love of their people and community to the hotel and most importantly to our guests.”
