ICC Sydney promotes 30 team members

The promotions support ICC Sydney’s commitment to invest in its workforce as the venue delivers a strong calendar of world class events.

ICC Sydney, managed by ASM Global, has announced 30 team member promotions from January to April 2023.

Acknowledging the individuals’ contributions and potential, the promotions support ICC Sydney’s commitment to invest in its workforce as the venue delivers a strong calendar of world class events in the first five months of the year.

As an employer of choice, ICC Sydney creates rewarding careers by giving its team hands on experience, paired with an industry leading training program and pathways to progression. This approach contributed to the recent wave of promotions, including those in Food and Beverage Supervisor, Security Supervisor and Audio Visual Floor Manager roles. It also supported the recruitment of casual hires, up 150 per cent since April 2022.

“With the strong return and growth of events in 2023, the focus on our team has never been more important. We’re incredibly proud to offer a world class service, which is down to our people’s hard work, commitment and passion,” ICC Sydney (ASM Global APAC) chief executive officer and group director of convention centres, Geoff Donaghy said.

“These promotions recognise how important it is to acknowledge, reward, and invest in the development of great talent. This is particularly important as the event industry goes from strength to strength, and as ICC Sydney continues to experience strong demand for events in 2023 and beyond.”

ICC Sydney director of human resources, Luke Fleming, said the Centre invests in its people to help them achieve their goals and build lifelong professional pathways.

“We’re proud of our award winning training and development programs. In FY22 alone, the venue engaged in over 2,147 internal and external training courses and invested in 3,441 training hours for its diverse team of events professionals. For anyone looking for a great career opportunity, the events industry is a dynamic field with strong growth,” Fleming said.

ICC Sydney is expecting to welcome thousands of local, interstate and international visitors in the second half of this year, including the 45th International Engineering in Medicine and Biology Conference (July 2023), SXSW Sydney (October 2023) and Impact X Summit(November 2023).
