Darwin Convention Centre wins Brolga award twice in a row

For the second consecutive year, Darwin Convention Centre has won the Meetings and Business Tourism category of the Brolga Awards. To win a prestigious Brolga Award is the highest accolade in the Northern Territory tourism industry.

Marking its 25th anniversary with the theme “Celebrating Tourism Excellence”, the awards ceremony took place on Saturday November 12 at Crowne Plaza Alice Springs, with outstanding businesses and individuals competing in 29 categories.

“From day one, our passion has been to showcase Darwin as a business events destination competing with the world’s best,” said Malu Barrios,  general manager, Darwin Convention Centre after accept the award.

“This award and the success of large-scale events held at the Convention Centre prove that Darwin is a place to do serious business, and its talent is getting the attention it deserves.

I thank the enthusiastic team at DCC for their unflagging commitment to excellence.”

In a just a span of three years, the Convention Centre has been popular for its world-class service and facilities, and Darwin has emerged as a fresh and vibrant destination for national and global business events.

Beyond bringing business tourism to another level for the continuing benefit of Territorians, the Convention Centre also acts as a catalyst supporting the delivery of knowledge, innovation and performance and drawing leaders, industry captains, scientists and academics from all over the world to meet and exchange ideas in NT’s tropical harbour capital.

The Meetings and Business Tourism category was judged on business strategies and outcomes, contribution to the tourism industry, customer service standards, sustainability and innovation.

Darwin Convention Centre has also been named a finalist in the 2011 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards – the industry’s most prestigious event of the year.
