Snow Australia, the official marketing arm of Australia’s best in snow has done all the research for you and will serve it up in a user friendly website, www.snow-australia.com, which was launched today (May 24).

Tourism Australia is supporting the Snow Australia initiative and national campaign, providing additional funding of $250,000, announced at the industry launch last week.

If you are a family that skis, a first time snowboarder, skier, cross country skier or someone who wants to experience just playing in the snow with toboggans and snow tubes, then choosing an Australian ski resort is set to get a whole lot easier this winter with the Snow Australia ‘Discover Our Winter’ campaign.

On the Snow Australia website is five ‘expert guides’ to help you navigate around renting equipment, learning to ski or snowboard, accommodation options and the best après entertainment on offer at Thredbo, Perisher, Charlotte Pass, Selwyn Snowfields, Falls Creek, Mount Hotham, Mount Buller, Mount Baw Baw and Lake Mountain.

Colin Hackworth, Chief Executive Officer of Snow Australia, said: “All Australian snow resorts will be promoted jointly under the new campaign which brings together the snow resort operators, Tourism NSW, Tourism Victoria and Tourism Australia to persuade Australians to visit the NSW and Victorian snowfields for their first, or next, holiday in the snow rather than look to overseas.

“The Snow Australia campaign will target families and young people from  all over Australia who have never been on a snow holiday before, encouraging  them to ‘Discover Our Winter’ in the NSW and Victorian snow resorts and shifting the perception that New Zealand offers cheaper package deals.

“It’s great to see such a collaborative approach by Governments and industry to ensuring our snow destinations are first and foremost in the minds of Australians planning their winter holidays. It’s a strong recognition of the economic value of the ski industry to our economy,” he said.
