A self-sustaining event venue, The Greenhouse, will open its doors at Melbourne’s Federation Square tonight (October 30).

a new Melbourne venue made entirely from recycled materials

Built entirely from recycled, recyclable and pre-loved materials, The Greenhouse will act as an exhibition and event space over the next three months.

Until 29 January, the venue will serve up degustation food, in part dug from the garden of its rooftop space, along with drinks created by Jason Chan and Anthony Herzog from Seamstress bar.

The concept is designed to draw attention to the amount of unnecessary wastage that society produces.

At the end of its run, The Greenhouse will instantly deconstruct leaving no trace of waste.
