Refurb and rebrand for historic Blue Mountains resort

Salter Brothers Hospitality has announced a multimillion-dollar refurbishment and rebrand for a historic luxury resort in the NSW Blue Mountains.

Lilianfels Blue Mountains Resort & Spa will become the second property to join the Ardour Hotels & Estates collection, following the recent announcement of Ardour Milton Park Bowral, in the NSW Southern Highlands.

The resort will be rebranded as Ardour Lilianfels Blue Mountains when complete in mid-2026 and continues Salter Brothers Hospitality’s commitment to reimagining Australia’s regional heritage retreats.

“The addition of Lilianfels to the Ardour Hotels & Estates collection is a powerful expression of our vision,” says Tash Tobias, CEO, Salter Brothers Hospitality.

“It is about crafting exceptional hotels and estates and new guest experiences in regional destinations that are deeply meaningful, honouring heritage and connection to place.”

Originally built in 1889 as the summer residence of Chief Justice Sir Frederick Darley, Lilianfels became one of the Blue Mountains’ most celebrated retreats in the early 1990s.

Its refurbishment will include refreshed events spaces; updated reception and lounge area; a renovated bar; a private dining room; redesign of the 89 guest rooms and suites; and wellness facilities.

“Lilianfels has a unique place in the heart of the Blue Mountains community and Australia’s hospitality heritage,” says Sandra Kloprogge, regional general manager, Salter Brothers Hospitality.

“The integration of this respected resort into the Ardour Hotels & Estates collection marks a pivotal moment – a thoughtful renewal that respects its history while setting a new standard for luxury, wellness and immersive guest experiences in the region.”

Renovation work has already commenced and Lilianfels will remain open during the refurbishment period, which is due for completion in mid-2026.
