Following on from last year’s upgrade to the golf course, Oaks CEO Brett Pointon said the next stage of the overhaul is now underway.

“We have already invested a couple of million dollars into the golf course. This used to be one of the top 100 golf courses in Australia and we want to get it back up there,” he said.

Between 130 – 140 of the rooms will be overhauled, particularly the kitchens, the reception area will be refurbished, the food and beverage offering will be updated (hint: it’s going to have a meat focus) and the function spaces will all be renovated in due course.

Interior designer Peter Carmody is creating the new concepts but Pointon said that the property will retain its rustic feel by maintaining the wooden floors and using natural materials like stone.

Pointon said, “We will systematically work our way through the whole hotel and revamp all the spaces.”

Oaks took over Cypress Lakes late last year. There is no predicted end date for the refurbishment.
