First look: Voco hotel set for Sydney CBD

Originally slated to be a Holiday Inn, it will now be the fifth Voco hotel in Australia.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed its fifth Voco hotel in Australia, with the announcement of Voco Sydney Central.

Set to open by 2020, the 16-storey hotel will be part of a mixed-use development by Linzhu Australia at 430 Pitt Street and will feature sloping roof with “green waterfalls”.

The property was originally announced in 2017 as a Holiday Inn hotel, however IHG decided a more upscale hotel brand was the right fit for the current market.

After attending the Voco launch event, Linzhu Australia chairman Jinwen Lin said he fell in love with the brand.

“I realised that voco was a perfect fit for the property in Sydney Central,” said Lin.

“We look forward to adding another memorable and distinctive property to the voco portfolio. We are delighted to be able to add upscale, indulgent room features and facilities to the property for our guests for the complete Voco experience.”

Voco Sydney Central will include 301 rooms, each with premium bedding and user-friendly technology, plus an all-day restaurant and bar.

Launched in June 2018, the Voco brand is growing in momentum across Australia, now with properties on the Gold Coast, Hunter Valley, Yarra Valley and Melbourne.
