Drinking while standing now permitted across NSW venues

Cocktail events can now go ahead in Sydney venues.

COVID-19 restrictions have eased further this week across Greater Sydney, expanding the parameters for business events.

As of 17 March 2021, patrons can now consume alcohol while standing in indoor venues.

Celebrating the announcement with pint in hand, NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro said capacity limits on weddings and funerals and dancing restrictions were the next to be eased.

The easing of restrictions comes threes weeks after the last major rolling back of COVID-19 rules across the state, which Premier Gladys Berejiklian said was due to the support of the NSW community.

“I thank the community for following the health advice to keep the virus at bay,” she said at the time.

“However, we cannot become complacent.”
