The organisers of ENTECH 2013 announced a major development to the show with the launch of the 2013 Riggers’ Forum, a two-day comprehensive program exploring and debating this specialist section of the industry and how it relates to Australia’s individual laws and regulations.
The program has been specially designed to examine and debate the use of newly devised products, industry practices and to review the process of standardisation. Whether a rigging practitioner, production manager or policy maker – everyone is invited to learn more about what makes the industry stay up and stay safe.
This will be the only program of its type in the Asia-Pacific region and offers the opportunity to hear from key international speakers as well as panellists from across Australia.
Well known industry leader Tiny Good, director of Showtech Australia, has developed this program around feedback received from professionals working in the industry. Key subjects to be discussed are driven from challenges and hot topics faced by the industry on a daily basis in rigging, training and OHS.
“Our industry and the way we need to work is dictated to us by government and other industries. The two-day Riggers’ Forum is the only chance Riggers all over Australia will have to have their say and influence the way work is completed in the future,” said Good.
“It will be crucial for all to attend to understand what we can change, and how we will work with the things we can’t change,” he said.
Also presenting will be USA based Bill Sapsis, president of Sapsis Rigging Inc with over forty years of technical experience in the entertainment industry plus New Zealand based Nick Barnfield, technical director for Showquip Ltd.
Barnfield recently received recognition from the London PLASA rigging conference and has worked extensively in equipment development and design, rigging, safety and project management.
In addition to the Forum, ENTECH 2013 will host the ‘Rigging Q & A’ – an information session in which participants will be encouraged to discuss with a panel of experts a variety of issues and challenges.
The Forum is part of the seminar program at ENTECH 2013 which runs alongside the extensive Trade Show. Showcasing their products and services in this sector will be leading manufacturers and suppliers such as Design Quintessance, The Rigging Shop, PWB Anchor and Mojo Barriers.
Over three days the ENTECH Show will offer over 40 seminars covering essential topics on audio, visual, integration, lighting, staging and business issues with industry leaders presenting in Australia’s largest educational program.
Tthe event will be held from 23rd – 25th July at Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre.
ENTECH 2013 Trade Show is part of the Australian Entertainment Technology Week and co-located with SMPTE. This year the show will offer new features with an ACETA Skills Zone, Musical Products Zone and for the first time visit the exclusive Australian Hall of Manufacturers.
