Epochal Hotels checks in at Bermagui Beach

Epochal Hotels is expanding its portfolio, acquiring a popular venue on the NSW Sapphire Coast.

The hospitality company has confirmed the acquisition of Bermagui Beach Hotel as part of its strategy to reinvigorate Australia’s best-loved coastal destinations and inject new life while holding onto local charm.

Epochal Hotels says Bermagui Beach Hotel will continue to deliver its signature laidback hospitality under new ownership.

Plans for the site include enhancing waterfront seating, while the adjoining 18 hotel and motel rooms will remain as they are, preserving its nostalgic appeal.

Epochal Hotels CEO Glenn Piper says the group was drawn to Bermagui’s energy.

“There’s a magnetic energy in Bermagui,” he says.

“It’s one of those rare places that captures your heart the moment you arrive.

“We’ve fallen in love with the town and its community, and we’re honoured to continue the legacy previous owner Yannis Gantner cultivated so thoughtfully.

“It’s a privilege to be part of the next chapter for this much-loved venue.”

Outgoing owner Gantner says it is time for him to move onto other ventures.

“Growing Bermagui Beach Hotel during the past eight years has been a real joy and privilege,” he says.

“It’s now time for me to prioritise my family and other ventures.

“I have full confidence Epochal Hotels will continue the custodianship of this iconic venue.”

Bermagui Beach Hotel joins Epochal Hotels’ growing stable, which includes Harbord Hotel in Freshwater (Sydney) and Beach Hotel in Merewether (Newcastle).

Bombies, a new bar and live music venue at Harbord Hotel recently opened its doors.

The group also recently acquired The Scarborough Hotel – between Sydney and Wollongong –and is preparing to relaunch Commodore Hotel in McMahons Point, in Sydney.

“It’s an exciting time for Epochal,” says Piper.

“We’re continuing to grow with purpose … it’s been incredible to see the group go from strength to strength as we help these special places thrive with heart and soul.”
