Say hello to the Australasian Special Event Creative Series

Following on from the closure of ISES (now renamed ILEA) in Australia, industry supporters have formed a new entity called Australasian Special Events (ASE).

The newly formed group welcomed 7o industry members to its launch event on Thursday 5 May, 2016, at Sydney Prop Specialists’ warehouse in Marrickville.

The event kicked off with a demonstration of Jay and David from Visio Group’s new CAD plug-in. Host in Dock 1, the first part of the evening was themed Willy Wonka and featured a selection of craft beers from Dave Events and catering from Blend 66 Catering.

Event Engineering’s Jeremy Sparks shared his insights into rigging for safety. Nicki Tofler from Marsh Insurance Broking then expanded on Jeremy’s talk by explaining what happens when safety has not been considered to a high enough degree.

The second stop featured a talk about the state of the hotel industry from Ruwan Peiris, IHG’s Australian Director of Operations, as well as a décor masterclass from ex-ISES president Lena Malouf.

The third stop was a mythical party with live entertainment, canapés, drinks and the chance to win a $5000 creative event package that included themeing, entertainment, AV, lighting, audio and photography.

Plans are underway for the next event in the series which will take place in July. Date and location will be announced soon on Spice.

Sponsors for the first event were The AV Dept, Dave’s Events, Sydney Event Services, Balloon Elegance, Compact AV, Acts On Show, The Ultimate Selfie, Chair Covers and Candelabras, Event Engineering, Marsh Insurance Broking, Blend 66, Sydney Props Specalists, Visio Group, IHG Australia, Lena Malouf Consultancy, Australasian Special Events, Pages Event Equipment, EventPix, Crew On Call, Lehman & Associates, Clifton Productions, Direction Conference and Incentive Management, Ga Staging and Litsa Flowers.
