Volunteering Gold Coast is calling out for assistance with the Australian University Games on the Gold Coast from September 29 – October 4.
Held at various sporting venues on the Gold Coast, 6000 students will compete in athletics, Australian rules football, badminton, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, cycling, fencing, football, futsal, golf, handball, hockey, judo, kendo, lawn bowls, netball, rugby union 7’s, sailing, softball, squash, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, tenpin bowling, touch, twenty20 cricket, ultimate Ffrisbee, volleyball and water polo.
Working in conjunction with Australian University Games, Volunteering Gold Coast is currently seeking avid sports lovers to assist with the following positions; Sports Volunteer, Operations Volunteers and Registration and Administration Volunteers.
Volunteering Gold Coast spokesperson Emma Trapski said. “These volunteer opportunities are a fantastic way of getting up close to all the action and seeing many competitors, some of whom are of Olympic standard, tough it out at various sporting arenas across the Gold Coast.
“It’s a taste of what’s to come for the volunteers of Volunteering Gold Coast when we host the Commonwealth Games in 2018”.
Volunteers will be required to complete an online training module followed by on the job training. Times required will depend on the allocated sport and venue. Most venues will operate on a 9am – 5pm basis. Sporting venues will reside as far North as Brisbane to as far South to Murwillumbah.
