Tourism Australia has recruited a delegation of six convention bureaux to take part in a business events showcase at World Expo 2010 in Shanghai in June.

The World Expo 2010 will be held from from May 1 to October 31, 2010 with the theme ‘Better City – Better Life’ to signify Shanghai’s new status in the 21st century as a major economic and cultural center.

It’s expected this year’s expo will generate the largest number of visitors in the history of the world’s fairs in terms of gross numbers at over 70 million people.

Over190 countries and more than 50 international organisations have already registered to participate in the Expo. China expects to receive almost 100 foreign leaders and millions of people from across the world.

A two-day program will invite buyers from North Asia to the Australia pavilion, to “see the pavilion, experience our country”. This event will build on Tourism Australia’s strong relationship with Asian buyers to position Australia as an outstanding destination for business events.
