Tabcorp is planning to transform Star City, its flagship Sydney property, into a world-class casino and entertainment destination.

The $475-million expansion will see the casino reorientated with a new entrance facing Sydney Harbour and the addition of new accommodation, F&B and gaming amenities.

It will include a new 5-star hotel with 300 rooms and 500 car spaces, 30 new restaurants and bars and a 30 per cent increase in main gaming floor products with a focus on table games. Star City’s ballroom will also be refurbished.

The expansion will seek to compensate for a 1.5 per cent slowdown the casino has experienced as a result of smoking bans that came into effect in July 2007.

The expansion will commence next year and take two years to complete.
