Fiji says “bula” to business

Conference and business travel is making a splash in Fiji, with visitor numbers up in 2025.

Tourism Fiji’s latest visitor stats are in, and while the island nation remains a hit with holidaymakers, there’s a small but steady rise in business and conference travel.

Recent figures show a four per cent increase in overall visitor arrivals compared to the same time in 2024, with three per cent of those arrivals in Fiji for business or conferences.

While it’s a modest slice of the market, it reflects growing interest in Fiji as a destination for incentive trips, leadership retreats and small-scale conferences.

In the first four months of 2025, Fiji welcomed 264,482 international visitors. Australians led the charge, comprising nearly half of all arrivals (49.4 per cent), followed by visitors from New Zealand at 21.7 per cent.

Holidaymakers comprise the bulk of traffic, at 80.4 per cent, however the business sector is performing well, particularly among ages 30-49, who account for 37 per cent of total arrivals.

Thanks to idyllic resorts combined with modern infrastructure that allows visitors to do business by the beach, the future is looking bright for Fiji’s events sector.
