SA Premier officially opens Crowne Plaza Adelaide Mawson Lakes

South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas has officially opened Crowne Plaza Adelaide Mawson Lakes, which offers premium accommodation and events facilities in the north of the city.

Premier Malinauskas was on hand at the new $70 million development in February to cut the ribbon to officially open Crowne Plaza Adelaide Mawson Lakes and The Heroic precinct.

Mawson Lakes is regarded as a key economic hub in northern Adelaide, with many corporate, defence and educational organisations establishing a base in the region.

Crowne Plaza Adelaide Mawson Lakes is owned by Pelligra and One7, and represents the fifth branded hotel in Adelaide for IHG Hotels & Resorts.

“Pelligra is proud to officially open our latest development in Mawson Lakes – a project that exemplifies our commitment to innovation, resilience and community impact,” says Pelligra chairman Ross Pelligra.

“What was once deemed unfeasible has been reimagined and transformed into a thriving, world-class asset.

“More than just bricks and mortar, this development is a catalyst for economic growth, creating at least 350 new jobs across part-time roles, full-time roles, contractors and trainees.

“We are thrilled to introduce Crowne Plaza, a globally recognised brand that will elevate Mawson Lakes as a premier destination, reinforcing its status as a vibrant and ever-evolving precinct.”

IHG Hotels & Resorts managing director, Australasia and Pacific, Matt Tripolone, says the Mawson Lakes opening forms part of the company’s global transformation.

“This is a hugely exciting moment for the region, as well as Crowne Plaza, IHG and our partners, Pelligra and One7,” he says.

“The Crowne Plaza brand is undergoing a significant transformation globally as we build hotels of the future, putting modern lifestyles at the heart of everything we do, from innovative design to flexible dining.

“It takes vision and trust from exceptional partners, and we’re grateful to deliver on another world-class property we know guests will love.”

The 155-room hotel offers the first and largest premium accommodation in northern Adelaide, with onsite conferencing and event spaces just 25 minutes from the CBD and airport.

Four purpose-built conference and event spaces at the property span 442 square metres for up to 250 guests.

A dedicated pre-function area sits within the 17-metre-high atrium design feature which offers natural light.

The hotel also features 120-seat modern Australian restaurant Ember & Vine – led by executive chef Kiran Ghate – which highlights stone cooking and locally sourced ingredients, while Aviator Bar boasts views across Adelaide Hills.

“We are delighted to welcome guests to experience Crowne Plaza Adelaide Mawson Lakes,” says Faisal Sayed, general manager, Crowne Plaza Adelaide Mawson Lakes.

“Our hotel is unlike anything the region has seen and we’re confident it will attract business and social events in this vibrant part of Adelaide, identifying us as an ideal destination for work and play.”
