IHG to open Kimpton hotel in Brisbane

IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced its first managed luxury hotel in Brisbane, opening a Kimpton property in the waterside suburb of Teneriffe in 2028.

Making the announcement at AHICE, in Adelaide, on 1 May, 2024, IHG has signed an agreement with Kokoda Property to bring the Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants brand to the trendy Brisbane suburb.

The luxury 155-room Kimpton in Teneriffe will form part of Kokoda Property’s $1.5 billion mixed-use development comprising extensive ground-floor hospitality and retail amenities, commercial offices and multiple residential towers.

“We couldn’t be more excited to bring our Kimpton brand to Brisbane, particularly in such a strategic location that perfectly aligns to the aspirational ethos of the brand,” says Cameron Burke, director of development, Australasia and Pacific, IHG Hotels & Resorts.

The hotel will feature a 200-seat signature restaurant and bar; a spa with multiple treatment rooms; fitness centre; infinity pool overlooking Brisbane River; garden terrace bar; and flexible indoor and outdoor event spaces.

“The Kimpton brand was the ideal choice for – and will be the centrepiece of – our striking Teneriffe development,” says Mark Stevens, founder and managing director of Kokoda Property.

“The brand’s lifestyle-centric positioning, design and playful guest experiences will fit perfectly into this exciting and unique pocket of Brisbane.

“We’re excited to play a part in the regeneration of historic Teneriffe, from its industrial origins into one of the trendiest neighbourhoods of Brisbane.

“It’s a popular year-round hub for fitness and is set to get even better with Skyring Terrace to connect Brisbane’s famed riverwalk between Teneriffe and New Farm, and become the cultural heartbeat of the lively area.”
