The Calile Hotel has been awarded One Key in the Michelin Guide, which is the hotel equivalent of the Michelin Star for restaurants.
Michelin Keys were introduced in 2024, but limited to 15 countries across North America, Europe and Asia.
However, the awards have been expanded to encompass every global region to honour the world’s most outstanding hotels.
The inaugural Michelin Global Key Award Ceremony was held in Paris, France, on 8 October 2025.
According to Michelin, One Key identifies a hotel as “a true gem with personality – service always goes the extra mile, and the hotel provides much more than others in its price range.”
Co-owner of The Calile Hotel, Catherine Malouf, was in Paris to accept the award.
“To be awarded a Michelin Key in this inaugural ceremony marks a significant affirmation of The Calile’s place on the global hotel industry stage and reflects the dedication of our team, our collaborators and our loyal guests,” she says.
Michelin Inspectors have five universal criteria when selecting hotels: excellence in architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, overall personality and character, value for the price, and a significant contribution to the neighbourhood or setting.
“To be awarded this accolade by such a prestigious global organisation marks a significant milestone for The Calile and reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence and exceptional service and drive to continually exceed our guests’ expectations,” says Chris Kemlo, general manager, The Calile Hotel.
Three Keys is the highest level that can be achieved by a hotel in Michelin Guide.
