Revealed: $3 million refurb for Melbourne events venue

An industrial warehouse events venue in Melbourne has unveiled its $3 million makeover, including a $1.5 million audiovisual upgrade.

The Timber Yard in Port Melbourne is a versatile events venue with configurable layouts, motorised retractable draping, indoor and outdoor spaces, and it can cater for events from 40 to 1500 guests.

Its refurbishment includes upgraded AV, full climate control, a sleek new blackout aesthetic and expanded amenities to cater for expos, business events, gala dinners, showcases, music events and product launches.

As part of the AV upgrade, the venue features advanced in-house production capabilities, including more than 100 moving spot and wash fixtures, a 9m x 3m high-resolution adjustable LED screen, D&B Audiotechnik distributed audio, and plug-and-play technical infrastructure.

“We are constantly striving to improve every aspect of the venue so our clients and their guests have impactful and unique experiences, whether they are coming to the venue for the first time or 10th time,” says Adam McKenzie, owner and director, The Timber Yard.

During the past year, the venue has held launches for Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mecca and Chemist Warehouse; celebrated Porsche’s 70th anniversary; and hosted more than 30 live music events.
