Cvent unveils top meetings and events cities in Asia-Pacific

Singapore took the crown in cvent’s annual list of top cities for meetings and events in Asia-Pacific, followed closely by Sydney, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong.

The list was compiled based on sourcing activity through the Cvent Supplier Network, which in 2017 sourced more than 40 million room nights worldwide and $14.7 billion of business, supporting more than 715,000 events around the globe.

“The cities featured in this year’s Top Destinations lists have invested significant time, energy, and resources into building premier locations that entice organisations, large and small, to plan meetings and events in their areas,” said Chris McAndrews, Vice President of Marketing for Cvent’s Hospitality Cloud. “Meetings have become a major economic driver for cities worldwide. Because of this positive impact, destinations are pulling out all the stops to attract MICE business, and we expect to see this healthy competition continue.”

“We are heartened that Singapore has maintained our standing as Cvent’s Top Meeting Destination in the Asia-Pacific region for the third year in a row. It is an honour and privilege to be consistently recognised as a preferred business events destination,” said Jeannie Lim, Executive Director, Conventions, Meetings & Incentive Travel, Singapore Tourism Board.

“Singapore stands out as a city that offers a wealth of possibilities – both at work and play – in a dynamic, pro-business environment that offers excellent connectivity, security, and a diversity of unique and inspiring venues and experiences. This recognition would not have been possible without the support of dedicated individuals and organisations in the business events industry, and we would also like to share this accolade with our industry stakeholders and partners.

The top 10 cities in Asia-Pacific for 2018 are:

  1. Singapore
  2. Sydney, Australia
  3. Bangkok, Thailand
  4. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
  5. Hong Kong
  6. Shanghai, China
