Fun idea: Japan gets robot hotel

Robot hotel

The Henn-na Hotel in the southwestern Japanese town of Sasebo is partially staffed by robots.

Check-in is carried out by an English-speaking robot dinosaur or Japanese female humanoid.

Next, an automated porter trolley transports bags up to the room and a facial recognition system opens the door.

While robots also handle the cloak room and concierge roles, security, maintenance and cleaning roles are still performed by humans.

Hotel owner Hideo Sawada said the reason for so many robots was to keep prices low.
