Peroni Young Designer Awards held at Sydney pop-up bar

Guests gathered at at the newly, and only temporarily opened, pop-up bar 'Momenti Peroni' for the Peroni Young Designer Awards on Oct 19 to celebrate emerging Sydney fashion designer Jon Schembri win his striking red carpet gown.


Guests gathered at at the newly (and only temporarily opened) pop-up bar ‘Momenti Peroni’ for the Peroni Young Designer Awards on Oct 19 to celebrate emerging Sydney fashion designer Jon Schembri win his striking red carpet gown.

Italian fashion designer and guest of honour Antonio Berardi judged the Awards with Harper’s BAZAAR’s Edwina McCann and Peter Holder from men’s style.

Attendees on the night included Italian designer Antonio Berardi, Edwina McCann, Nicola Finetti, Nicola Cerrone, Gary Bigeni, Alison Veness-McGourty, Michael Pickering, Lizzy Lovette, Dion Lee, Rai Thistlethwayte, Miss Teen Australia Claire Parker and designer Claire Coppins.

Guests were treated to authentic Italian aperitivo tastings from chef Massimo Bianchi featuring grilled prawns, calamari, baby cos hearts with walnut and Taleggio and Bruschetta complimented by Peroni.

The event was held at the new Momenti Peroni pop-up bar in Darlinghurst and celebrated five up-and-coming fashion and industrial designers. The finalists included winner Jon Schembri, runner-up Andrew Aloisio, Luke Staley, Mariëtte van Bueren and Susanna Bilardo.

The second annual event called for designers to submit an entry that represented Peroni’s Italian heritage and brand values of high quality, style and attention to detail as well as incorporating a “blue ribbon”. Jon Schembri has won the prize of a lifetime- a trip to Milan to meet with Antonio Berardi in his studio and a visit to the Alessi Museum.

The new Momenti Peroni bar has been personally inspired by Antonio Berardi and features a delicious menu of aperitivo created by former Uccello and Buon Ricordo chef Massimo Bianchi.

The limited edition bar will be open until 19 December 2010 and is located at 304 Victoria St Darlinghurst, Sydney.
