Frock Stars launches 15 years of Australian Fashion Week at Powerhouse Museum

The launch of the exhibition Frock Stars: Inside Australian Fashion Week saw nearly 600 guests gather at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum, all fed by freshcatering.

Celebrating the 15th  anniversary of Rosemount Australian Fashion Week a coctail function for 575 of Sydney’s fashion scene launched the unique Frock Stars exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney.

The event drew a fashionable crowd including designers, celebrities and Fashion Week VIP’s. Guests included Collette Dinnigan, Akira Isogawa, Carson Kressley and many others. The pre-exhibition cocktails took place in the Turbine Hall before guests were invited to be amongst the first to see the Frock Stars exhibition. The exhibition took guests behind the scenes of Australian Fashion Week, from the designer’s studio to the catwalk, VIP lounge and paparazzi.

freshcatering was bought in to provide the canapés and service for the evening. The brief was to keep it simple and stylish and the result was a menu that included braised rabbit terrine on caraway seed shortbread, prawn perogi with lime butter sauce and caramelised pear and feta on gorgonzola biscuit.

The cocktail menu was written specifically for the event with menu items designed to reflect the event and the guests attending. Special platters were made to suit the look and feel of the event.

Service staff wore branded t-shirts to create an additional branding opportunity for both Rosemount Australian Fashion Week and the Powerhouse Museum’s Frock stars exhibition.

with food and staffing

The launch event was an exciting collaborative project to celebrate 15 years of Fashion Week. The event involved several stakeholders including IMG Fashion and the Powerhouse Museum, working together to achieve a hugely successful evening that generated significant interest in the fashion industry and media in general.

According to freshcatering, due to the event’s popularity, guests numbers increased significantly on the day of the event, requiring the supplier to accommodate additional staffing and food supplies, all done without a hitch, top produce a seamless event in the end.
