Sydney’s French Moroccan restaurant Souk in the City celebrated their first anniversary in style last night with a party for 200, including socialites, media and restaurateurs.

Souk in the City proprietor, Omar Majdi, and his team turned the restaurant venue into a traditional Moroccan souk, or marketplace, with the help of a traditional belly dancer and her reptilian dancing partner, fire performers, live Moroccan music and delicious foods.

The restaurant interior, adorned in exquisite Moroccan furnishings, featured traditional produce displays surrounding wood-fired bread and tapas.

In the back boudoir, a tarot card reader was in high demand alongside a Moroccan henna tattooist. Garlands Florist adorned the restaurant with seasonal floral displays and provided rose petals that showered guests as they entered the event via black carpet.
