Brisbane opens its first voco hotel

The vibrant new hotel features 194 artfully designed guestrooms, a rooftop pool and 1,200 square metres of sustainably-focused event space.

The Queensland capital has welcomed the opening of voco Brisbane City Centre, marking the first voco hotel for the river city and the second for the state.

The vibrant new hotel is a collaboration between IHG Hotels & Resorts and Vista Hospitality Group, the recently formed joint venture between Pro-invest Group and Next Story Group.

The 194 artfully designed premium guestrooms are bathed in natural light and feature plush sustainable bedding, vibrant artworks, smart in-room technology, modern bathrooms and sweeping views over the city or river.

The interior design is inspired by the property’s riverside location, showcasing a warm, neutral palette with dark blue hues and pops of voco’s signature yellow, while on-site facilities include a rooftop pool, 24-hour fitness centre, cafe and bar Kraft & Co., and Zuma restaurant.

Meetings and events are well accommodated with 1,200 square metres of event space across 11 premium, sustainably focused meeting and function spaces, named after Queensland’s National Parks.

The Grand Chelsea Ballroom, which will open mid-June, can host up to 600 guests for a conference or celebration. More intimate gatherings can be hosted in the meeting and board rooms located throughout the property.

With a strong commitment to sustainability, voco Brisbane City Centre is implementing a number of sustainable initiatives such as aerated shower heads that reduce water and usage, plush bedding filled with 100% recycled materials, and large refillable Antipodes amenities. In addition, guests can enjoy free access to handcrafted bamboo bikes from Wyld Bikes which are easy on the environment and encourage guests to ‘tread lightly’.

Since launching in Australia in 2018, the voco brand has seen tremendous enthusiasm, taking off in new cities across Australasia and the globe – including Melbourne and Auckland this year alone – with its expansion happening at a faster pace than any other IHG brand.
