Holiday Inn makes its mark on Melbourne

IHG is strengthening its new-look Holiday Inn brand in Melbourne.

InterContinental Hotels Group is bolstering its presence in Melbourne, with new Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express properties in the works.

Holiday Inn Express Melbourne Southbank is gearing up to launch, with doors set to open by the end of December 2019.

The hotel will feature 345 well-appointed rooms, a business centre and four meeting spaces for up to 84 delegates. It also boasts a prime location within walking distance to the Crown Casino Complex and the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

It marks the fifth Holiday Inn Express to open in Australia by investment firm Pro-invest Group since 2016.

Meanwhile, the inner-Melbourne suburb of Richmond is poised to welcome a new Holiday Inn hotel in 2023.

A joint venture between Pelligra Group, PrimeLand Group and Diamond Hospitality Singapore, Holiday Inn Melbourne Richmond will offer 160 rooms within new mixed-use development.

Located in close proximity to the MCG, Rod Laver Arena and Botannica Corporate Park, the hotel is set to draw corporate and leisure travellers.

“Holiday Inn has made its mark as one of Australasia’s fasted growing hotel brands, and Holiday Inn Melbourne Richmond complements our 28 open or pipeline hotels,” said Abhijay Sandilya, IHG VP of development.

“Not only is Richmond a great destination for sports fans, it boasts a number of demand drivers in the technology, health and education space, and we are confident this hotel will be a favourite with corporate, event and VFR travellers.”

IHG have a number of hotel openings in the pipeline, including several in 2020. Read about them here.
