What was the event?
Sofitel Sydney Wentworth hosted an exclusive black-tie evening on Tuesday, 20 May, 2025, celebrating 60 years of the hotel’s legacy and the influence of the late fashion designer, Carla Zampatti.
The event brought together the timelessness of fashion and refined elegance of luxury hospitality.
How many guests attended?
Ninety-six guests arrived via red carpet to the hotel’s Bar Tilda, where they were warmly greeted by Sofitel Sydney Wentworth general manager Sam Panetta and enjoyed flowing drinks from Pommery Champagne, which set the tone for a night of luxury, style and celebration.
What was the planning process for the event?
Sofitel Sydney Wentworth hosted the event as part of its 60th anniversary celebrations, working with the Carla Zampatti team.
The hotel curated a unique experience, transforming Bar Tilda for the red-carpet arrival, presenting a bespoke three-course menu at Tilda restaurant, and launching a Carla Zampatti installation in the lobby.
What were the highlights of the event?
The event featured an intimate Q&A with Alexander Schuman (pictured, above left), CEO of Carla Zampatti, hosted by Kellie Hush (pictured, above right), CEO of Australian Fashion Week, reflecting on Carla Zampatti’s lasting impact on Australian fashion.
The conversation was followed by a review of Carla Zampatti’s opening runway show for Australian Fashion Week – with signature cocktails – paying tribute to Carla’s bold spirit and love of la dolce vita (“the sweet life”).
The immersive evening continued with a three-course meal at the one-hatted Tilda – with each dish paired with fine wines – including charcoal-roasted blue-eye trevalla, and lemon and cheesecake trifle served tableside, which was a sweet end to the night.
Talented artist Christine Ai (“Cai”) captured the essence of the celebration through a live painting that beautifully represented the fusion of Sofitel Sydney Wentworth’s heritage and Carla Zampatti’s timeless fashion legacy, with the energy of Australian Fashion Week.
