Event in the spotlight: Canterbury Bulldogs 90th Anniversary Gala

In 2025, NRL club Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs is celebrating its 90th anniversary and the who’s who of rugby league recently came together at Sydney Town Hall to celebrate at a gala dinner facilitated by Funktionality Events & Experiences.

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs’ 90th Anniversary Gala.

How many guests attended?

There were 700 attendees, including Bulldogs legends, club members, supporters and media.

The event celebrated 90 years of the Sydney-based rugby league club, as well as the launch of the Bulldogs NRLW side, and the induction of three new members into the Bulldogs Hall of Fame: Steve Folkes, Johnny Greaves and Hazem El Masri.

The evening also included onstage Q&As with club greats Dr George Peponis, Peter Mortimer and Graeme Hughes.

How was Funktionality Events & Experiences involved in the event?

Funktionality Events & Experiences provided event support to the Bulldogs club, plus set-up, styling, entertainment and decor, including the end-to-end planning process and consultation; providing custom branded table decor centrepieces; an aerialist performance and all rigging required for it; and black anthracite and Perspex-top plinths with flourishing florals.

Funktionality also crafted a museum-style exhibition of Bulldogs memorabilia, including branded plinths, mannequins, carpet, velvet bollards and museum plaques, as well as setting up a custom gallery wall displaying the timeline of the club throughout the decades, and orchestrating transport of these items.
