A popular wedding and corporate functions venue on Melbourne’s St Kilda Road has suddenly gone into liquidation, leavings its clients stranded without answers.

The closure of The Willows has particularly affected couples, who have been left without a wedding venue and thousands of dollars out of pocket.

Bride-to-be Rhiannen Skelley, who was supposed to be getting married at the venue this Saturday (30 June 2018), received an email last Friday saying the company was going into liquidation.

She told The Age that she had secured the venue two years in advanced and had paid about AU$8,000 in deposits.

“It was really unfortunate because they were still taking money off us up until last week,” Rhiannen said.

“We haven’t heard anything from them a part from that very general email.

“I’m not feeling very positive about it.”

The Willow’s website has since been taken down, along with its social media channels.
