Tassie star off to USA after winning AACB Staff Scholarship

The AACB Staff Scholarship is designed to offer middle to senior level bureau staff an opportunity to demonstrate their professional commitment to the business events sector.

Business Events Tasmania’s Leah Muir is set to travel to the United States to attend the Simpleview Summit 2018 in Arizona after winning the Association of Australian Convention Bureaux (AACB) Staff Scholarship 2017/2018.

The AACB Staff Scholarship is designed to offer middle to senior level bureau staff an opportunity to demonstrate their professional commitment to the business events sector by delivering a project which highlights innovation and excellence.

Business Events Tasmania (BET) CEO Stuart Nettlefold said he was extremely excited Leah had won the opportunity to broaden her knowledge of the destination marketing database Simpleview, which the organisation currently uses.

“Knowing the importance of strong data to an organisation such at BET and the benefits it can have on the organisation’s success and profitability and key relationships, there is no doubt BET and other bureaux will benefit from Leah’s experience, Nettlefold said.

“This experience will provide Leah with in-depth training into the software, exposure to cutting-edge trends, best practices and international networking opportunities.

AACB CEO, Andrew Hiebl said, “AACB is committed to the recognition and encouragement of excellence. I would like to congratulate Leah on winning the staff scholarship and wish her all the best as she strives to achieve this excellence within her organisation.”

Leah Muir said, “I’m very excited to be given the opportunity to meet with fellow colleagues from around the world, and the chance to bring back experience and knowledge that will not only benefit BET but the national bureaux more broadly”.

The scholarship is proudly co-sponsored by Qantas and Tourism Australia. The recipient receives a $5,000 cash grant and free international return flights.
