See you later sushi! Say hello to the new tapas train.

This fun new concept involves serving tapas style dishes via moving train with a made-to-order grill menu.

Food is available to take away, or dine-in at the train or at a table.

Try traditional mezze dips and salads like the Casarecce (crispy prosciutto, sweet pea, cherry tomatoes, basil, olives and shaved grana padano) and the spiced carrot (chickpeas, crumbled feta, sultanas, toasted almonds, mint, garlic, honey and dukkah).

Small plate selections include mussels spiced with caramelised onion, rice and lemon; stuffed zucchini with lamb and fresh herbs; zucchini parmigiana baked layers of pan fried zucchini, Napoli sauce and a a trio of cheeses; or fish cakes made with fresh Atlantic salmon.

Flame-grilled kitchen specials include Tiger prawns in garlic, olive oil and herbs and tender lamb skewer finely minced with lemon, garlic and olive oil.

Dessert include roasted quince with crème fraiche and halva; chocolate pudding with seasonal berries; cheesecake of baked ricotta and almond, and traditional baklava dripping in honey and filled with crunchy cashews.

MediTrainean co-owner Ashley Rofe said the inspiration for this new epicurean experience came to him one evening while dining with friends over mezze-style tapas.

“It occurred to me that serving this kind of food on a moving train would be a lot of fun and people would truly enjoy eating this way,” he said.

“We see ourselves as the ultimate in the quick service restaurant space as our food is such high quality and so flavoursome. It’s food that everybody loves and served in every way to make eating convenient no matter what you need or want – to dine in, have a quick meal or simply pick-up and run. This makes MediTrainean perfect for commuters, couples, singles, groups, families – basically everyone.”

The venue can cater for up to 100 people for a function.

MediTrainean is located at 55 Alexander St, Crows Nest NSW.
