Plans for an ‘Australia Habitat and Eco-Tourist Facility’ at Taronga Zoo are now on public display.

The proposed ‘Taronga Wildlife Retreat’ is made up of 58 rooms and five suite ‘pods’ which will range from two to four storeys, a guest lodge, lounge, dining facility, bar and guest interaction facilities.

The eco-retreat, located to the south of the Australia Precinct, will wrap around a wildlife sanctuary housing wallabies, echidnas, bandicoots, platypus, koalas and freshwater eels.

Taronga Zoo said the project builds upon the success of the long-running ‘Roar and Snore’ glamping program that caters for up to 51 people to overnight at the zoo on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
