200-room Sheraton proposed for Perth

A new $110 million, 42-level Sheraton hotel has been proposed for Perth’s CBD, with the city currently assessing the development application.

A new $110 million, 42-level Sheraton hotel has been proposed for Perth’s CBD, with the city currently assessing the development application.

The combined hotel and residential development would feature 196 rooms and 89 apartments and would be built on the site that’s currently home to the 10-storey New Esplanade Hotel, which would be demolished.

The proposed hotel would also include a ballroom and meeting spaces.

If approved, the property would be one of three new Starwood hotels being developed in the city, alongside new Westin and Aloft properties.

“Starwood Hotels and Resorts is always actively seeking the right partners and the right locations to expand its footprint in Australia and Perth is a key city in are overall growth strategy,” a spokesperson said.

“At present we operate a Four Points by Sheraton hotel in the city and will open The Westin Perth and Aloft Perth Rivervale in 2017.

“In line with Starwood’s multi-brand growth strategy however we strive to have all our brands represented in key markets and cities such as Perth and we are currently in talks with potential developers regarding growth opportunities,” said a Starwood spokesperson.
