Melbourne’s Mr Miyagi has expanded to include Yukie’s Snack Bar.

Serving up Japanese-inspired share plates, highlights include Kingfish cured on a Himalayan rock salt slab with green chili, coriander cream and crispy quinoa. Another favourite is the Applewood hot smoked salmon tostadilla, served with fennel, apple, coriander, with yuzu shoyu dressing.

The former art gallery space features fluro-pink LED lighting in the shape of Yukie’s puckered lips, with a back-facing view onto the graffiti-covered brick walls of Artists Lane. A specially commissioned artwork by HEESCO, a celebrated muralist and fine artist, is reminiscent of street-side Japanese wall art featuring anime characters.

P-E-K STUDIO were responsible for the design and interior fit out that includes drop lighting and custom-designed furniture. Mance Design was the lighting designer on the project. Bare floorboards and stone bar tops, along with large custom wooden tables, concrete benches and bar seats give the space a light and bright feeling. Yukie’s has the capacity to cater for 120 people seated.

Yukie’s Snack Bar is located at 99 Chapel Street, Windsor VIC.
