The Australian Open is a finalist in the awards

Australian Event Awards has announced 77 national finalists selected across 20 categories.

This year, Vivid Sydney (Destination NSW), the Australian Open (Tennis Australia) in Victoria, Adelaide Writers’ Week, Byron Bay Bluesfest in New South Wales, and the Perth International Arts Festival have all gained finalist spots.

The City of Unley’s Double Shot Coffee Fiesta in South Australia, Glow Winter Arts Festival from the City of Stonnington in Victoria and regional events including the Argyle Diamonds Ord Valley Muster (Ord Valley Events) in the far north of Western Australia, the Jodi Lee Foundation’s SA Hiking Challenge and Buskers by the Creek, a Queensland music festival, have also been selected as finalists in the awards.

In the corporate events sphere, finalists were the Westinghouse launch by Born Curious, Mumbrella360 and the Mumbrella Awards by Focal Attractions in New South Wales, Grow by ANZ: The Keith Urban Experience and Jam Slam (Belle Laide Events) which took place in Victoria and New South Wales, and the generationYOU conference in Queensland.

In the achievement categories, finalists include Yakusan for their work on The Hendrick’s Gin ‘Parlour of Curiosities’ at Spectrum Now Festival and Dark MOFO Festival 2015, Technick and The P.A. People, both for their contributions to the 2015 European Games, OzParty Events for their work on The Ultimate Race – Sydney, event staffing provider Event Workforce, venue discovery service The Venue Concierge, the College of Event Management, William Angliss Institute, Luna Park Sydney, Curzon Hall, Brand Events Australia and George P. Johnson Australia.

The 18 state winners released alongside the finalists further emphasise the breadth and depth of Australia’s events industry.

State winners included Opera in the Reservoir, which transformed a disused historic space in central Brisbane into an operatic venue, Bayer Bazaar presented by Gandhi Creations, an event celebrating and highlighting multiculturalism in the workplace, and the St John Experience, which brings together the widespread volunteers and staff of St John Ambulance in Western Australia to learn, connect and celebrate their work for the cause.

Winners of the Australian Event Awards will be announced at Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf in Pyrmont, Sydney, on 17 November 2015.

The Australian Event Awards Ceremony will be accompanied by the Australian Event Symposium, exploring the theme Events, Tourism and Destination Branding, which will be held 17 – 18 November at the Novotel Sydney on Darling Harbour.
