Rydges Perth is set to close it’s doors for the last time this spring.
A Rydges spokesperson said, “Following a change in strategic direction from the hotel’s owning company, it was announced earlier this year that Rydges Perth will be closing for business on the morning of 1st September 2015, prior to a major redevelopment of the building.
“Since this decision was confirmed no further bookings have been accepted for any arrival dates post 31 August 2015. This was obviously disappointing news for all of us at Rydges Hotels. Perth has been one of Rydges greatest success stories and we’d like to thank our guests and industry partners for the fabulous support we’ve enjoyed over the past 18 years.
“In that time the hotel has picked up a whole swag of service and tourism awards and we are very proud of all that has been achieved, collectively – by our staff, guests and industry partners. Since news of this decision, and indeed until the end of August, it is very much business as usual. Rydges are committed to maintaining a high level of service and guest focus in all areas of the hotel right up until closure. The hotel will be closed for an extended period of time and eventually re-open as the Intercontinental Perth.
“Rydges are working to ensure a continued brand presence in the Perth CBD and expect to announce a new location for Perth’s next Rydges hotel in the not too distant future,” said the statement.
Unless offered positions within the Rydges network, the Rydges Perth workforce will be released when the hotel closes.
The hotel will re-open in 2017 after a full refurbishment.
