Alejandro Jara, founder of Black and White Waiters, has opened a tiny creperie and wine bar in Sydney’s Bondi Beach.

Jara, who has been successfully running the rapidly expanding hospitality staffing business for the past five years, decided to take the plunge into starting Avila because he saw an opportunity opening up in the niche market of crepes.

The new venue – which has had $300K refurbishment – fits 19 people seated or 30 people standing for drinks and canapés.

Jara said, “During the day we focus on coffee and crepes and the vibe is happy and vibrant. At night the mood changes, lights are deemed and Avila crepes becomes more of a romantic wine bar.”

All of the crepes – both savoury and sweet – are made using French flour that is 100% gluten-free.

Jara plans to launch Avila catering in the new year wherein crepe chefs will work onsite at events to prepare fresh crepes for guests.

Avila is located at Shop 2, 177 Glenayr Ave, Bondi NSW.
