Tim Holmes à Court and Daimon Downey from Pelicano Bar and Kate McMahon from Catalina (pictured above) have opened The Lemon Tree this week in Sydney’s Australia Square.
The Lemon Tree is a 150 seat Southern Italian restaurant headed up by ex-Catalina chef Peter Streckfuss.
Holmes à Court said, “We wanted to create a dining experience that exudes the essence of a modern take on Italian style. Because let’s be honest, Italians do it better.”
Classic Italian inspired cocktails include the signature Lemon Tree Martini, Catalina Martini and Pelicano Martini, paying homage to their other successful enterprises. The wine list is accessible featuring an Italian selection of ten whites and ten reds, with Mumm as the exclusive champagne pour and Peroni the only beer and on tap.
The interiors were designed by Tamsin Johnson and feature a pink terrazzo bar, white timber floorboards and a colourful banquette area.
Linen banquette seating with custom citrus designed tiles imported from the Amalfi and the terracotta pots with locally grown lemon trees frame the boundary and create a Mediterranean escape in the middle of the Sydney CBD.
The Lemon Tree is located in the piazza of Australia Square (Corner Pitt and Bond St) and will be open for lunch and dinner from Monday to Friday, 12pm – midnight.
