Video: Groups go budget on Scoot

Exclusive by James Wilkinson

Singapore Airlines’ low-cost carrier Scoot is attracting more groups and business travellers on its flights as corporate wallets continue to be tightened.

Speaking exclusively to SPICENEWS and sister magazine HM on camera, Scoot CEO Campbell Wilson said the airline was seeing increased demand from business travellers and groups business as the carrier continues to offer lead-in airfares as low as $199 one way from Australia to Singapore.

Flights from Sydney to Singapore are currently priced at AUD$219 each way, while the Gold Coast to Singapore is only AUD$199.

On the reverse, Wilson said in the 6 months since the airline has been flying to Sydney and the Gold Coast, inbound arrivals from Singapore are up 32% compared to a flat previous 12 months.
