Some of the industry’s leading conferencing suppliers for groups heading to Ireland came together for a special showcase at Sydney’s Quay restaurant on Valentine’s Day

The special showcase saw organisations such as Tourism Ireland, Dublin Convention Bureau, Belfast Convention Bureau, Etihad Airways, Abbey Incentive & Events, Event Partners, Odyssey International and others come together to showcase Ireland as a destination for an unforgetable incentive.

Entertained by the Celtic Tenors, guests were kept up to date on the latest offerings for incentive travel to the destination.

Tourism Ireland Ambassador Noel White spoke at the luncheon outlining all that the destination has to offer as an ideal location for MICE planners to host both business and special events.

Destinations such as Belfast have invested over 90 million pounds in Titanic Belfast, a new and exciting conference venue on the waterfront that opened last year and boasts the largest dedicated gala dinner space in the city.

Built on the original site where Titanic was built, the new iconic building symbolises ‘a new Belfast’ in the heart of the new Titanic Quarter.

Tourism Ireland Ambassador Noel White spoke about the wide range of options Ireland has to offer MICE groups.

The Dublin Convention Bureau has also recently created a new ‘Dublin Delegate Map’ to fulfil literature requests for confirmed conferences for Dublin with hotels and conference venues clearly marked. It also provides conference delegates with tips and expert advice on the top things to see and do during their free time outside of their meetings. They are also taking requests from larger conferences (over 2000 Pax) for personalised maps.

Out of Australia, Etihad Airways offer 28 flights per week from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to Abu Dhabi where 10 flights per week are operated onwards to Dublin. Capacity on the Abu Dhabi to Dublin route will increase from this July when a Boeing 777-3000ER will be deployed on the route increasing available seats by 34%.
