Sydney’s Parramatta welcomes Holiday Inn

The world-famous green Holiday Inn sign was hoisted in Sydney’s Parramatta today (18 October), as the former Clarion Hotel on the Park becomes Holiday Inn Parramatta.

Capping off a AU$3 million refurbishment of all guest rooms and public areas by taking on one of the world’s most recognisable hotel brands, Holiday Inn Parramatta is Western Sydney’s freshest hotel.

Formerly the Clarion Hotel on the Park, the hotel has rebranded as the Holiday Inn Parramatta.

The hotel is only a short walking distance of the CBD of the City of Parramatta, the largest retail and entertainment hub west of Sydney, and a brief drive away from Sydney Olympic Park’s event and sporting venues, Sydney Showgrounds and Rosehill Racecourse and the Rosehill Gardens event and exhibiton spaces.

Holiday Inn Parramatta’s refurbished 181 rooms include 30 executive spa suites, each with a separate living area with a large workspace and wireless internet accessibility. Each suite also includes fold-out bedding, making them a handy choice for families – particularly when coupled with the fact that children under 12 stay and eat free in the company of an adult at Holiday Inn hotels and resorts worldwide.

The upgrade extended to the hotel’s glittering lobby bar and Twenty One Fifty all-day dining restaurant, and included the introduction of wireless internet access throughout the hotel. The smoke-free Holiday Inn Parramatta also offers 24-hour room service, an on-site gymnasium and outdoor spa and swimming pool.

The hotel’s seven meeting rooms – which include the Anderson Ballroom which can accommodate up to 500 delegates – have also been revitalised as part of the upgrade.

Bordered by parkland in the heart of the largest population centre of Australia’s biggest city, Parramatta and its surrounds are home to an ever-growing number of attractions including major concerts, sporting events, theatre productions, expos and other events every week of the year.

For example, Holiday Inn Parramatta has arrived just in time for the Parramasala festival of South-East Asian food, arts and culture from November 8-11, and will be just around the corner from the festival opener, the Bollywood Street Party. The hotel is also walking distance from the Harvest Festival in Parramatta Park on November 17, featuring such musical acts as Beck, Cake, Ben Folds Five, Beirut and The Dandy Warhols.

With Holiday Inn being the official accommodation provider to the Football Federation of Australia (FFA) and football in Australia, Holiday Inn Parramatta’s arrival is perfectly timed to coincide with the start of the 2012 / 2013 A-League season – particularly for fans visiting the city to see their favourite teams play the Western Sydney Wanderers at Parramatta Stadium.
