George P Johnson wins multiple Event Design Awards


Engagement marketing company George P Johnson (GPJ) was the only Australian agency among the winners of the globally-contested 2012 Event Design Awards as it picked up four awards.

The 2012 Event Design Awards recognize “the best of the best among the industry’s change agents, and the award-winning projects reflect how the world’s best creative studios are reinventing experience design across all categories.”


GPJ’s Emirates Melbourne Cup Marquee won silver in the ‘Best Consumer Event Exhibit/Environment’ category.

GPJ picked up four Event Design Awards. Their Emirates Melbourne Cup Marquee won silver in the ‘Best Consumer Event Exhibit/Environment’ category. GPJ was named as the Event Design Award Winner for the ‘Best Modular + Custom Exhibit’ for their Chrysler Regional Displays project. GPJ was also awarded Gold in the ‘Best Online/ Virtual Element /Micro-site’ category for their Cisco GSX 2011 project. They were also recognised in the ‘Best Use of Exterior Media/Adv’ category winning gold as the Builders for Ralph Appelbaum Associates and SYPartners IBM Think project.


GPJ has delivered the Emirates Melbourne Cup Marquee successfully for 4 consecutive years.

For Emirates, GPJ Australia provided full service from strategy and creative concepts to 3D design, theming, fabrication and construction and on-site implementation and management. On Australia’s busiest sporting event day and when the whole world is watching, Emirates and their valued guests were in a safe pair of hands. GPJ delivered flawlessly for Emirates for the fourth year in a row, and is also producing the Melbourne Cup Marquee for 2012.
