Got a great event idea? Here’s your chance to pitch it to some of the leading international event specialists and win a ‘Round the World’ ticket including Sydney, London and Los Angeles to help get your event off the ground.

 All young Australians are invited to submit an idea for a new Australian hallmark event capable of expressing the unique attributes of Australia, capturing the imagination and enthusiasm of locals and visitors, and the attention of the international media.

Launched in conjunction with the upcoming Australian Event Awards, the International Special Events Society (ISES) and the Australian Centre for Event Management (ACEM) this competition will see the idea shortlisted and brought to the attention of the core of the Australian event industry at the Australian Event Symposium to be held in association with the Australian Event Awards in Sydney on 13 – 14 September, 2012.
 
All event ideas are welcome of any type to take place anywhere in Australia. The competition is open to all Australians between 18 years of age and over who are under 30 on 13 September, 2012.

The winner will receive an air ticket from their city of origin to Sydney, Los Angeles, London and return, plus a travel allowance for each day that they are away from home. They will be invited to undertake a week long internship with each of the following leading international event directors:

David Merrell, AOO Events, Los Angeles
Hollywood Event Designer and Producer David Merrell creates some of the most innovative, cutting edge events in the business. He has been honoured as ‘Designer of the Year’ by Event Solutions in 2008, and has earned nine Gala Awards from Special Event Magazine, seven Esprit Awards, a BizBash and a Crystal Site Award. He is regularly featured in numerous trade and consumer publications and is a popular industry speaker internationally.

David Grant, Event Producer, Sydney
David is widely acclaimed as one of Australia’s leading event producers, and has been MEA’s Australian Event Organiser of the Year’ a record 10 times. He has worked on the last 9 winter and summer Olympic Games, and continues to work extensively through the USA for numerous multinational clients. David has an ability to keep fresh and happening that keeps him at the very forefront of event creation.

David Jamily, Theme Traders, London.
Co-founder and director of Europe’s leading event empire Theme Traders, David is a seasoned expert at bringing the wow-factor to any event. His London based company has staged some of the capitals most lavish bashes, and operates worldwide. Clients range from A-list celebrities to leading global corporations, even including the Queen’s eightieth birthday party. David lectures on events all over the world, is a ‘Secret Millionaire’, philanthropist and founder of Kindness UK.

To get started, all entrants must only submit a short description (maximum one A4 page of text and/or illustrations) to the Australian Event Symposium.

The finalists will be judged by The three “Davids’ and the winner will be invited to join them for an internship in their home cities.
