Heritage Hotel Management has announced that Auckland’s Waitakere Estate has joined the company’s growing Heritage Boutique Collection (HBC).

Auckland’s Waitakere Estate has joined Heritage

“Auckland’s Waitakere Estate is a perfect fit for HBC as we aim to make every guest feel like ‘someone special’ visiting ‘somewhere special,” said Heritage Boutique Collection General Manager Ronnie Ronalde. “All our exclusive properties must meet strict criteria to join the ‘invitation only’ Heritage Boutique Collection.

“The experience for our guest begins with our use of products which have been carefully developed to compliment our service, to enhance comfort, to ensure a warm friendly welcome and discretely appeal to our guests’ five senses,” he said.

Auckland’s Waitakere Estate, 30 minutes drive west of Auckland’s CBD, has 14 refurbished guest rooms, three garden apartments and an exclusive private two-bedroom villa which are set amongst 29 pristine hectares. Conference and wedding parties for up to 70 people can be catered for in three banquet rooms, plus, the estate has its own private wedding chapel.

Other facilities include an award winning restaurant, a swimming pool, sauna, squash court, petanque and croquet lawn, private bush walks and all with stunning views of Auckland city, and even a helicopter landing site.

“We are delighted to add this wonderfully unique boutique hotel to our group. Auckland’s Waitakere Estate offers everything from relaxing leisure breaks, to memorable weddings and conferences. This delightful property, positioned high in the Waitakere hills, is a superb addition to the Heritage Boutique Collection,” Ronalde said.

Auckland’s Waitakere Estate is set on Scenic Drive at the gateway to the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park and the dramatic West Coast surf beaches of Karekare, Piha and Bethells Beach.

The estate has a special history. It was bought in 1940 by Captain Nevill-Jackson. It took three days for him to cut a 700 metre long driveway deep into the forest to a landing that offered spell binding views back to Auckland. This became the site the hotel is located on today. After marrying in 1953, the Captain built a substantial home for his family, which was converted to a boutique hotel in the early 1980’s.

The hotel facilities continued to grow over the decades and today the Captain’s sons, Reg and Hugh Nevill-Jackson, still personally operate this family business on this very special historic estate.
