Clubs NSW transforms Gold Coast Convention Centre into Wild West

Approximately 1,400 club representatives of the NSW club industry attended the ClubsNSW 2010 Annual Conference and Trade Expo at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre where the venue was transformed into one Wild West event.

Held in early October over 7 days, the provided an annual conference, trade expo and networking platform for the hundreds of companies constituting the club industry in NSW.

The overall event made full use of the Centre’s interior facilities, utilising meeting rooms, central rooms and a section of the arena, as well as two of the four exhibition halls for the trade expo which attracted more than 115 companies on the day.

The GCCEC’s arena was transformed into a Wild West themed event

The GCCEC’s arena was transformed from plenary to banquet style to conclude the conference and expo where delegates celebrated in a Wild West themed setting, complete with a wild west town, teepees, moonshine, and a good old-fashioned hoedown.

To achieve smooth transition from event to event, the Centre held the AGM in its central rooms instead of the arena as was done last year, and achieved a tight turn around from plenary to banquet set-up by establishing a strong rapport with the client’s production team to ensure all operational requirements were achieved.

A panoramic look at the themed venue space

ClubsNSW sponsorship and events manager, Kerrie Napier, said that one of the benefits of staging the ClubsNSW Annual Conference, Trade Expo and AGM at the GCCEC for the fifth year was not only the great location and easy walking distance to accommodation and the nightlife of Broadbeach, but also that the Centre fit their requirements like a glove.

Delegates were very comfortable with navigating their way around the venue to partake in the many components of the conference and also enjoyed the warm hospitality of the staff, she said.
