Mirvac Hotels & Resorts has appointed Craig Syphers to the position of general manager at The Sebel Cairns, their largest hotel in Tropical North Queensland and one of Cairns’ most well known landmarks.

Recently appointed as general manager of The Sebel Cairns, Craig Syphers.

In his new role, Craig is responsible for managing all aspects of this newly refurbished hotel, including its conferencing, banqueting, and wedding facilities, the lavish Mii Spa Day Spa and Coco’s restaurant and bar.

Positioned in the heart of Cairns and offering a choice of 321 guestrooms, Syphers brings to property a wealth of hands-on hotel experience gained from over 15 years in the hotel industry including an extensive career with Mirvac Hotels & Resorts as general manager of the 255-room Citigate Central in Sydney and The Sebel Parramatta, Western Sydney’s largest corporate and conferencing hotel.

Prior to joining Mirvac, Syphers enjoyed roles with Carlton Hotels & Resorts and the Southern Pacific Hotel Corporation in both Australia and New Zealand.

“I’m delighted to have Craig managing The Sebel Cairns” said Simon Brown, Mirvac’s regional manager for the Queensland hotels and resorts.

“His extensive experience with large hotels and in particular our Sebel brand, is the ideal fit and he is very excited about working with his new team and meeting the local community”.

“Craig’s appointment is a promotion within the Group and the result of Mr Felipe Lagos-Guichard’s resignation earlier this week. Mr Lagos-Guichard joined the The Sebel Cairns in October 2008 as general manager and we wish him well with his new endeavours”, concluded Brown.
