InterContinental Sydney has appointed Ken Penney as the hotel’s new conference services and catering manager in a bid to grow the hotel’s meetings, conference and events business.
“We are in the process of introducing new products and services to our meetings, events and incentives offering at InterContinental Sydney, so it is timely that we welcome Ken to the management team. Ken is highly respected in the MICE industry and his skills and contacts will be of great value to the hotel moving forward,” said InterContinental Sydney general manager, Fred Matti.

Penney brings with him a wealth of experience in the meetings and events industry and a strong background in professional meeting planning and destination management. Previously, he was an integral member of the pre-opening team at The Westin Sydney, where he held the position of director of conference services for more than six years.
He then went on to join the APEC 2007 Taskforce as hotel senior coordinator, responsible for contracting all interstate accommodation. Most recently he was director of conference and catering at Sofitel Brisbane.
In his new role as conference services and catering manager at InterContinental Sydney Ken will be responsible for driving the hotel’s market share and strengthening its presence in the MICE segment.
